Tehran Friday Sermon - Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami Warns: We Will Turn Tel Aviv and Haifa to Rubble
In a Tehran Friday sermon, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, a member of the Iranian Assembly of Experts, said that Iran was "strengthening its missile power on a daily basis" and that "If Israel makes a mistake, we will turn Tel Aviv and Haifa to rubble." In the May 11 sermon, Khatami addressed U.S. President Trump, saying that the people are "more unified and stronger than ever" in their cry of "Death to America!" He said that the pro-Trump camp in the region, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the UAE, and the GCC, would become "America's cannon-fodder" and that "just as America plundered your resources, it will plunder your souls." The sermon was broadcast by Iran's Channel 1.
Following is a transcript:
Ahmad Khatami: "This is the solution: The military power of the country must be strengthened. We are not talking about a nuclear bomb. But in other respects, our policy is one of defense.
"The Islamic Republic is strengthening its missile power on a daily basis, so that Israel, that plundering regime, will not be able to sleep, and nightmares will constantly be present before its eyes. If Israel makes a mistake, we will turn Tel Aviv and Haifa to rubble.
"Listen, Mr. Trump! A few days ago, you said that the 'Death to America' [slogan] was fading in Iran. This is Tehran, the heart of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the people here, more unified and stronger than ever, say: 'Death to America!'"
Congregation: "Death to America! Death to America!"
Ahmad Khatami: "[I say] to the camp supporting Trump in the region – the Zionist regime, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and the Gulf Cooperation Council secretary-general: You have made a mark of shame for yourselves, when you allied yourselves with the Zionist regime, and this mark of shame cannot be erased. I am warning you that if anything happens in the region, you will become America’s cannon fodder, and just as America plundered your resources, it will plunder your souls."
