On December 12, 2024, Syria-based Saudi jihadi scholar Abdullah Al-Muhaysini shared a video on his Telegram channel documenting his first visit to Damascus since the fall of President Bashar Al-Assad's regime. In the video, he remarked that every Syrian has lost a family member during the civil war and that while the people celebrate the regime's downfall, their martyred relatives are rejoicing in Paradise. Al-Muhaysini also recounted how before every battle he would advise the mujahideen youth fighting the Syrian regime and its allies, telling them their enemies had cursed the Prophet's Companions and wife Aisha—sacred figures in Sunni Islam—so as to motivate their efforts. He further criticized the "fools" among the Rafidites, referring to Shi'ites, for cursing the Companions and Aisha.
Abdullah Al-Muhaysini: "I believe that the people of Syria have entire villages in Paradise. I believe that palaces have been built in Paradise. There is not a single man or woman in Syria that does not have a brother, or sister, or other relative who has been martyred.
"[The Quran says:] 'They are alive with their Lord and they are sustained by Him.' Just as you shout 'Allah Akbar' and celebrate your victory here, they are in Paradise with Allah, and they are celebrating and rejoicing because of what Allah granted them. Many fools from among the [Shiite] Rafidites and others cursed the Companions of the Prophet Muhammad, cursed our religion, and cursed our mother [Aisha]. By Allah, at the beginning of every battle, I said to the mujahideen youth: 'Whenever you are being bombarded and shot at fiercely, remember that [your enemies] curse your mother Aisha.' By Allah, their hearts burned with zeal for our mother."
