Sheikh Muhammad Al-Bajirmi of the Palestine Religious Scholars Association About a Muslim's Death Wish

Sheikh Muhammad Al-Bajirmi, a member of the Palestine Religious Scholars Association, appeared on Hizbullah's Al-Manar TV, following the killing of Hamas Leader, Ahmad Yassin, and talked about death in Islam. Following are excerpts from his comments:

Sheikh Bajirmi: (Sheikh Yassin) believed in the Islamic principle, yearn for death and you will be given life. Oh Muslim, as much as you yearn for death, so you will be given life. Our enemy has a (different) point of view, as Allah says: 'You will not find people who preserve life more than them.'

The Jews or the Zionists are the people who preserve life the most. The Koran uses the word 'life' negatively, meaning 'any life.' This, while our Islamic principle, as the Prophet Muhammad has taught us, yearn for death and you will be given life. As much as the Muslim yearns for death for Allah, he will be awarded life. Not any life, but a life of dignity.
