Qatari FM Condemns Assassination Of Iranian Nuclear Scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh In Phone Call With Iranian FM Zarif: This Only Adds Fuel To The Flames; Restraint Should Be Exercised

On November 28, 2020, Al-Jazeera Network (Qatar) aired a report, stating that Qatari Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has condemned the November 27 assassination of senior Iranian nuclear scientist IRGC Brigadier General Mohsen Fakhrizadehh. According to the news anchor, Al-Thani called Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and told him that the assassination is only adding fuel to the flames at a time when the region is looking to reduce tensions and to return to dialogue. Al-Thani also reportedly called for restraint and for seeking solutions to pending issues.

News Anchor: "Qatari Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani condemned, in a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, the assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh. The Qatari Foreign Minister said, in the phone call with his Iranian counterpart that Fakhrizadeh's assassination will only add fuel to the flames. He said that the [assassination] has taken place at a time when the region and the international community are looking for ways to reduce tensions and to return to dialogue and diplomacy. The Qatari Foreign Minister called for the exercise of restraint and to seek comprehensive solutions to the pending issues."
