Palestinians in West Bank and Gaza Commemorate Slain Leaders with Militant Parades

Rallies held at Al-Quds and Al-Najah Universities in the West Bank, as well as in Gaza, featured militant displays, with masked men carrying Hamas flags and models of rockets. Footage from the rallies, held on March 23, 2014 to commemorate slain Hamas leaders Ahmad Yassin, Abd Al-Aziz Al-Rantisi, and Ibrahim Al-Maqadma, were broadcast on Al-Aqsa TV.

Following are excerpts:

Newscaster in studio: In Nablus, the Islamic bloc at Al-Najah University organized a rally, titled "Loyalty and Steadfastness on the Path of the Martyrs." This was one of a series of events marking "Martyrs' Week." The rally was attended by several MPs, who stressed the need to abandon the negotiations, and to adhere to the option of resistance.

Voice of reporter: The faithful march in the path of the martyred leaders, at the rally of the Islamic bloc in Al-Quds University, Abu Dis, in commemoration of the martyred leaders Sheik Ahmad Yassin, Dr. Abd Al-Aziz Al-Rantisi, and Dr. Ibrahim Al-Maqadma.

The parade, which passed through the entire campus, was headed by masked men who insist on the resistance, as the West Bank is being attacked by the occupation day and night, the Al-Aqsa Mosque is being Judaized, and the cancer of the settlements is spreading.

Activist at Al-Najah University, Nablus: Let me convey a message to the Zionist enemy – the enemy of "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His Messenger," the enemy of Fatah, of Hamas, of Islamic Jihad, and of PFLP, and first and foremost, the enemy of the Palestinian flag. Yesterday, they killed three martyrs, from the various Palestinian factions. So I won't talk about Hamas or about Fatah.

We, the [Fatah] student movement at the Al-Najah University, direct a resounding message to the Zionist enemy alone: We shall never yield or surrender. We have many martyrdom-seekers at the ready, which neither you nor your government can hold back. That was our message to the blind Antichrist, Netanyahu.

To President Mahmoud Abbas, we present three options. The first option is for you and [the Israelis] to negotiate. This option is somewhat reasonable. The second is for us to negotiate, while they kill us. By God, this constitutes nothing but humiliation and a disgrace.

The third option… The third option is for us to fight them and kill them, and if they kill us, we will return to our Lord.
