A group of Palestinian activists in Bethlehem staged a demonstration to protest the visit of U.S. Vice President Michael Pence. The activists chanted slogans such as "Palestine is free" and "America is the head of the serpent." Children stepped on Pence posters, which were later set on fire. One activist said that "the United States will be burned by the fire it ignited." Footage of the sermon was posted online by the Lebanese U-News agency on January 22.
