Palestinian-Jordanian Cleric: Israel Is an "Abode of War," Not Merely an "Abode of Heresy"

Jordanian-Palestinian cleric Sheikh Mashhoor bin Hassan Aal Salman said that the Jews living in Israel were not Israelites, "just like the followers of Jesus of Nazareth are not Christians." Sheikh Aal Salman further said that "the Jews' state is an Abode of War, not merely an Abode of Heresy." His fatwa session was posted online on April 29, 2016.

Following are excerpts

Mashhoor bin Hassan Aal Salman: What is the guiding principle in distinguishing between the Abode of Islam and the Abode of Heresy? Is the state of the Israelites considered the Abode of Islam? These people are Jews, Israel - Allah's prophet Jacob - has nothing to do with them. not Israelites. Israel - Allah's prophet Jacob - has nothing to do with them. People call them "Israelis," but they are not, just like the followers of Jesus of Nazareth are not Christians. Christ has nothing to do with those who deify him. It is forbidden to call the Jews "Israelis," and to call the followers of Jesus "Christians." [The Prophet] Israel has nothing to do with the Jews, and Jesus has nothing to do with the Christians.

The Jews' state is an Abode of War, not merely an Abode of Heresy. The Jews oppressing Palestine are enemy combatants, not people with whom there should be a covenant. It is not haram [to kill] them. The Jews in Palestine are enemy combatants. They are not dhimmis, protected by a covenant. It is not haram to shed their blood and to take their property. This is the situation with the Jews. Whether they should be killed depends on whether it is beneficial or detrimental. It is not an issue of whether there is a covenant of protection with them or not.
