Palestinian-Jordanian Actor Ahmad Massad Raps following Syria Atrocities: Wake Up, Arabs!

In a video, titled "The Conflict of the Jungle," posted by Palestinian-Jordanian actor Ahmad Massad on July 22 on his social media accounts, he castigates Islamic extremism, saying that he was "sorry that the chivalry of an Arab person is measured by the number of heads he chops off". In his rap-like monologue, Massad says that "all these rotten beliefs should be thrown into the garbage bin" and that "all the fountains of extremism on Earth must be dried up." The video was triggered by the beheading of Palestinian teen Abdullah Tayseer Al-Issa in Syria by the Nour Al-Din Al-Zenki movement, which was at one point considered part of the so-called "moderate opposition." In it, Massad alternately addresses Al-Issa, his killers, and Arab society as a whole. According to Jordanian news outlets and Massad's own Facebook account, the actor was recently charged by the Jordanian authorities with "contempt of religion and offending religious sentiments," an offence that carries a possible jail sentence.

Massad: "I am sorry that we have interred humanity and buried compassion alive.

"I am sorry that the chivalry of an Arab person is measured by the number of hands he has chopped off.

"I am sorry that Arab honor has become linked solely to defining what is permissible or prohibited for women. You can easily find someone boasting about killing his own mother - who gave birth to him, raised him, and educated him - under the pretext that her appearance is immodest.

"I am sorry, my friend, that lowlifes of the moderate opposition turned out to be moderate only in their fear for their own interests, while your hear served as a means to proclaim that 'there is no god but Allah,' at a time when the slain proclaims the shahada, and the killer slaughters and screams 'Allah Akbar.'

"I am sorry that humanity will be endangered by your existence. What filthiness, despicability and disgrace makes you sanction the killing of a human being, any human being? What filthy double standards do you employ in sanctioning the killing according to race, sect, and religion, while prohibiting the killing of your own sect? The killing is based on a person's identity. A person is born into a certain sect, group, and religion, and in a certain place, and he dies because of his identity - even if he is a child who has done nothing wrong. He doesn't understand what is happening to his country, or why he holds a gun rather than a book.

"How despicable are you? What abominable lowlifes are you? How filthy do the sheikhs of strike and pulpits of extremism make you? You interpret the Quran to suit your interests and those of your masters. Nothing in the world justifies the killing of a person in this way, no matter if he is 12 years old, 13, 14, 15, 20, or 50, armed or unarmed, a Sunni or a Shiite, part of the army or not...

"The important thing is that a human being dies in a horrible way, that there are child-soldiers, who bear arms and fight, not knowing why. Don't they deserve a good education? To discover their dreams and their hobbies? To have goodness planted in them and the good human being within them revealed?

"What's the point in creating a hateful, oppressive, and greedy generation? A person who kills another person because of his race, his sect, or his religion, is a son of 66 lowlifes, whoever he may be. All these rotten beliefs should be thrown into the garbage bin. All the practices and social customs that teach you that anyone who is different from you is an infidel and an enemy must be erased. All fountains of extremism on Earth must be dried up.

"What's wrong with being different? Let us be different, not backward. Let us be different, not backward. Wake up, Arabs! Wake up, Arabs!"
