Palestinian Astrophysics Professor Imad Barghouthi Urges the Development of Missiles (Archival)

In this video-clip, Dr. Imad Barghouthi, a Palestinian astrophysics professor, who was detained by Israeli authorities in April 2016 and indicted this week on charges of incitement, is seen at a Hamas rally held at Al-Quds University in 2014. In his address, he called upon students to develop weapons for the resistance, including rockets, missiles, and biometric identification systems. In the next war, the people of the West Bank should be the "spearhead," "ready to make the ultimate sacrifice," Barghouthi said. The video was posted on Youtube on October 22, 2014.

Professor Imad Barghouthi: "We want the students to write dissertations that are not like the regular 'copy and paste' dissertations in Al-Quds University and other Palestinian universities. We want M.A. theses and studies to develop the Al-Attar precision-guided missiles. We do not want dissertations copied from the Internet. We want to see innovation by our male and female students. We must develop the Al-Attar precision-guided missiles. I know that you have the capability to do this. I know that you are capable of developing the Ghoul rifle and other rifles. I know that you have the capability - thanks to Allah's grace and your efforts - to develop the weapons of the resistance. Palestine has not yet been liberated. As our beloved brother, commander Abu Obeida, said: 'This battle will be the one before last.'

"In the next battle, we, the people of the West Bank, should not merely be supporters of our beloved people in Gaza. We must be the spearhead and must be ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. We must produce projects and innovations, just like [the people of Gaza] did. They produced the R-160 [rocket], and we must produce the Abu Shamala-200, Barhoum-250 and the Al-Attar-300 [rockets]. As I wrote on Facebook and elsewhere on the Internet, we must produce Al-Attar precision-guided missiles. The despicable occupiers, the Zionist soldiers and their leaders, should know that we will not go after them near the borders of Gaza alone. Allah willing, through the efforts of the Islamic Bloc [Hamas student body], through the efforts of the honorable and innovative students, through their achievements, projects, and theses, we shall develop missiles.

"We will install electronic chips in these rockets, Allah willing. Into these electronic chips we will upload the fingerprints of the Zionist soldiers, their voice prints, their retinal patterns, and their service numbers. We will program these rockets - that will be fired from Gaza - to hunt them down in their bedrooms. I know that you are capable of developing such electronic chips and software.
