Ousted Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir Testifies At His Trial: I Bear Full Responsibility For The 1989 'National Salvation Revolution'

On December 20, 2022, Al-Arabiya Network (Saudi Arabia) broadcasted the testimony of ousted Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir during legal proceedings against him by the current Sudanese regime. In his testimony, Al-Bashir said that he had been the leader and instigator of the "National Salvation Revolution" and that he bears full responsibility for the coup of 1989. He also said that he took pleasure in the prosecution's attempts to prove this accusation with videos and witnesses. Omar Al-Bashir had been removed from power in April 2019 in a military coup.

Omar Al-Bashir: "I stand before this court, and I say with pride and dignity that I am the leader and instigator of the National Salvation Revolution."

Crowd: "Allah Akbar! Allah Akbar!"

Al-Bashir: "To the esteemed tribunal I say that I bear full responsibility for [the coup of] June 30 [1989]."

Crowd: "Allah Akbar! Allah Akbar!"

Al-Bashir: "I know that admission is the best evidence. I enjoyed following the attempts of the prosecution team to prove this accusation with videos and witnesses.
