Hizbullah Deputy Sec.-Gen. Sheikh Naim Qassem: We Will Retaliate Against The Israelis – And The Americans – If They Bomb Us In Lebanon Or In Syria

Hizbullah Deputy Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem said that it is unlikely that Israel or the U.S. will target Hizbullah in Lebanon or Syria, because Hizbullah will retaliate against both America and Israel. He made these remarks in an interview with Mayadeen TV (Lebanon) that aired on March 3, 2021. Qassem said that the Americans should not think that they are allowed to bomb Hizbullah targets, and they have no justification for this. He said that Hizbullah has no intention of starting a war against Israel, however if Israel were to attack, Hizbullah would defend itself and Israel would "see stars." Qassem added that "today the battle should be fought inside the Zionist entity," and Hizbullah has comprised a list of Israeli weapons and military bases, which are located inside populated civilian areas.

Sheikh Naim Qassem: "Hizbullah has stated, loud and clear, that is has no intention to initiate a war, declare a war, or start a war. Hizbullah intends to remain on the defense. We in Hizbullah say that if the Israelis attack us, we will make them see stars in the middle of the day. We say this, but only in response to Israel's attacks.

"Today, the battle should be fought inside the Zionist entity. The resistance has presented places in Israeli populated areas in order to prove to the world that [Israel] has weapons and military bases inside Israeli cities and villages. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

"Whether the fortifications [at the Israeli Nuclear Research Center] have to do with our missiles or not — they should do what they have to do and we will do what we have to do. In the future, we will see on the ground whether those fortification helped or not.

"I think it is unlikely that the Americans or the Israelis would attack Hizbullah in Lebanon or in Syria at this stage, because Hizbullah has decided to retaliate in case of an aggression against it."

Interviewer: "Even against the Americans?"

Qassem: "Yes, even against the Americans. If they attack, the Americans will not be excluded from the discussion and decisions about some kind of retaliation. The Americans should not think that they are allowed to bomb us. They have no justification. This is an aggression. The victim of aggression has the right to retaliate in the way he sees fit. So I think it is unlikely that we would be targeted at this stage.
