Mufid Abdulqader, brother of Hamas leader Khaled Mashal, who was released from federal prison after serving 16 years for his role in the Holy Land Foundation terror-funding scheme, said in a video recorded upon his release on December 12, 2024: "No matter what these people do, they will remain midgets." He added, "Serving the people of Palestine is the greatest honor." The video was posted on Quds News Network's YouTube channel. In 2008, five American citizens, among them Abdulqader, sometimes referred to as the Holy Land Five, were convicted of funneling millions of dollars to Hamas through the Holy Land Foundation.
Mufid Abdulqader: "The Lord has honored me with [the ability to read] the Quran and to pray. He gave me things that I could not have done outside [prison] even in a million years. This is the generosity of the Lord, alhamdulillah.
"No matter what these people do, they will remain midgets. I was released half an hour ago. What have they managed to change? Sister, serving the people of Palestine is the biggest honor there is. Only people honored by Allah get to serve Palestine."
