Egyptian-American political analyst Magdi Khalil said that Hamas uses its people as human shields, and it is fully responsible for the deaths of civilians and children in Gaza. He made these remarks in an interview that aired on Russia Today TV on May 18, 2021. Khalil said that the European countries and the U.S. agree that Israel is exercising its basic right for self-defense against the rockets fired by Hamas "without any justification." He added that civilian deaths are used by Hamas as propaganda. Khalil continued to say that Hamas is a terrorist organization and is serving the "regional agendas of Iran and Turkey." He stated that the Jews are not foreign intruders, and they have been on this land for 3,000 years and "this is their country."
