During a recent visit to Iran, Louis Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, called America a "sinking ship," but said that he was at home there "in spite of her filth." "The black people of America are in the mud of civilization," Farrakhan said in the interview, posted on the Nation of Islam website on March 6, "and I’ve got to get my foot in the mud to get my people out of the mud." Farrakhan was heading a Nation of Islam delegation to Iran to mark the anniversary of the Islamic revolution, the end of the U.S. sanctions, and the Iranian elections. Farrakhan was interviewed by Iranian journalist Nader Talebzadeh on February 25, 2016.
