Lebanese Shiite Scholar Mohamad Ali Al-Husseini Praises Lebanese, Iraqi Shiites for “Slapping” Khamenei by Rejecting Iranian Hegemony
Lebanese Shiite scholar Mohamad Ali Al-Husseini, the Secretary-General of the Arab Islamic Council in Lebanon, said in a November 6, 2019 interview on Sky News Arabia (U.K./Abu Dhabi) that the corrupt Iranian regime is enabling corrupt people to oppress Lebanon and Iraq. He explained that the recent uprisings in Lebanon and Iraq are a rejection of Iranian hegemony because the people, including Shiites, believe all their problems come from Iran. Sheikh Al-Husseini criticized Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and praised Iraqi and Lebanese Shiites for “delivering a huge slap to Khamenei’s face.”
Following are excerpts:
Secretary-General Mohamad Ali Al-Husseini: The [Iranian] regime of the Rule of the Jurisprudent is corrupt. It is tainted by all forms of corruption, which it passed on to its followers in Lebanon. It was has given them power and means to control this country. The same is true for Iraq, where this regime is covering for the corrupt people and giving them the power to plunder the country and oppress the people. This is the context for this protest – for this intifada – by the Lebanese and Iraqi peoples. Therefore, the [slogans] we heard in Iraq constitute a great and dangerous change for Iran. Our dear brothers, the brave and proud Iraqi people, rejected the [Iranian] hegemony, especially in the Shiite areas. They chant against Iranian tyranny and hegemony and reject the Iranian presence. They attribute all their troubles to the [Iranian] regime. This is especially significant when Karbala is joining the uprising.
What do you expect Khamenei to say when he sees his picture – as well as the pictures of Khomeini and Qasem Soleimani – set on fire in Karbala? This is a major earthquake, and who cause it? It was caused by the poor people, who cannot even afford to buy shoes, by the famine people who cannot afford to buy food or medicine. Today, through his monopoly over Iraq, Lebanon, and their resources, the Iranian ruler has entirely stripped himself of his humanity.
Today, the Shiites or Iraq and Lebanon delivered a huge slap on Khamenei’s face.
