In an August 22, 2020 episode of her show on MTV (Lebanon), Lebanese TV host Denise Rahma asked Lebanese MP Abu Assi what he has to say to Lebanese people who are losing hope and whose children want to leave Lebanon. As she asked this question, Rahma began crying, and Abu Assi responded: "Many mothers, unfortunately, cry the same tears over the departure of someone dear to them like their children."

Denise Rahma: "Your honor [MP Abu Assi], you are in touch with many people and you know this... Many people have lost hope. Some, or many, are thinking of leaving Lebanon. We have given up on our children, who are about to leave Lebanon. What can you say to these people who are losing hope? Excuse me..."

Abu Assi: "Not at all... There is no need to apologize. I know what these precious tears mean for us all, and that many mothers, unfortunately, cry the same tears over the departure of someone dear to them like their children."
