In an October 24, 2024 appearance on Al-Arabiya Network (Saudi Arabia), former Jordanian Minister of Information Samih Al-Maaytah stated that Iran needs to honor the sovereignty of Arab countries rather than pursue expansionism. He noted that if Iran focuses on its internal issues, about 75% of its problems with the Arab world could be resolved. However, he expressed distrust of Iran if it tries to establish a militia or carry out attacks in Jordan, declaring, "Our problem with Iran is not Palestine."

Samih Al-Maaytah: "Iran wants to expand abroad. Had Iran confined itself to its borders, and focused on its economy and its people, its relations with the Arabs would have been very strong, and there would be no dispute about anything. However, the problem is that Iran is extending its tentacles. So when we talk about the statement of the Iranian president, about a dialogue to resolve the problems of the region – the number one problem of the region is that Iran needs to honor the Arab countries' sovereignty, their existence, and their right to defend their soil.

"This is the main issue. Once Iran decides to change course and focus one its domestic affairs, at least 75% of its problems with the Arab world will be resolved on the spot. With regard to the Palestinian cause – even among the Arabs, we do not agree over the way to deal with it.

"This is a matter in dispute among us. Whether Iran wants to recognize Israel or not – there is no problem with that. However, Iran's main problem is that it needs to decide to focus on itself and its people, and treat others with respect. However, if you come to visit me in my own country, and try to establish a militia there, and to infiltrate and carry out attacks in my country, I will not trust you no matter what you say. Our problem with Iran is not Palestine."
