In Eid Al-Adha Address, ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi Calls on Supporters in the West to Carry Out Attacks Using Guns, Knives, Bombs, and Cars

In an audio address released on August 22, 2018 to mark Eid Al-Adha, ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi praised the "fierce lions" in Canada, Europe, and other "lands of the cross" for carrying out terror attacks, and called on supporters in the West to "strike them in a way that will rip out their hearts and send their brains flying." In the statement, titled "Glad Tidings to the Steadfast," released by Al-Furqan and posted on multiple pro-ISIS Telegram channels and Twitter accounts, Al-Baghdadi said that "a piercing shot, a deep stab that penetrates the body, or the detonation of explosives in your lands equals a thousand operations here - and don't forget the option of running people over in the streets."

The following are excerpts:

ISIS Leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi: There is no way to strengthen Islam – beyond monotheism and belief in Allah – other than through fighting, through love of martyrdom for the sake of Allah, and through punishing His enemies, the criminal infidels everywhere.

Anybody who looks at the reality through unbiased eyes realizes in what circumstances the U.S., protector of the cross, finds itself, after entering a direct confrontation with the Muslims for almost two decades. By the grace and bounty of Allah, the U.S. is undergoing its worst phase in modern history, as attested by its politicians and leaders. It is a phase that heralds the demise of [the U.S.], Allah willing.

The punishments meted out [by the U.S. ] on its allies, like what we are witnessing in Turkey – the [U.S.] demand to release the Crusader priest and the [Turkish] refusal  - along with the efforts by the Russians and the Iranians to rebel against the sanctions imposed by [the U.S.] against them, and even North Korea's lack of commitment [to rapprochement], and its description of U.S. policy as a "gang policy" – all these are signs of [American] deterioration and decline, and deliberate expressions of disrespect on the part of its allies, in light of its weakness. The mujahideen can take the most credit, after Allah, for degrading [the U.S.] and crushing its prestige.

The war has its ups and downs and has not yet come to an end. The greatest war criminals should hang their heads in shame, after Allah destroyed – at the hands of His servants, the mujahideen in Iraq – the [Iraqi] military forces that the [U.S.] established in the course of ten years or more.

With the help of Allah, the mujahideen managed to thwart the American dream of gaining control and spreading its influence. The Crusader Russia began to vie [with the U.S.] for control over the region, objecting to its hegemony over it. We in the Islamic State have prepared for you, oh protectors of the cross and slayers of Sunnis in the Levant and elsewhere, something that will make you forget the horrors of Iraq and Khorasan.

We salute the fierce lions in the lands of the cross – in Canada, in Europe, and elsewhere – for their good deeds in support of their brothers. May Allah bless your efforts and accept your good deeds. Oh supporters of the Caliphate, follow in their footsteps. Use whatever meager means you have and rely on the Almighty, and strike them in a way that will rip out their hearts and send their brains flying. A piercing shot, a deep stab that penetrates the body, or the detonation of explosives in your lands equals a thousand operations here – and don't forget the option of running people over in the streets.
