On November 19, 2020, IRINN TV (Iran) aired a report about the Shahid Roudaki, a new IRGC Navy battleship made from a salvaged Italian shipping freighter. The reporter explained that the Shahid Roudaki is equipped with state-of-the-art weapons and equipment, that it carries aircraft and missile systems, and that it will be deployed in the northern Indian Ocean.
Reporter 1: "The IRGC's logistical [sea] city is ready to make its way to the northern Indian Ocean. Shahid Roudaki, the ocean-crossing ship, is a heavy, multi-purpose, long-range vessel that can carry and launch various aircraft, drones, missile systems, defense systems, and radars."
Reporter 2: "The landing of this helicopter completes the preparation of all the weapons and equipment on the IRGC's first 'battle city' – the intelligence-and-logistics battleship, the Shahid Roudaki. Today, in Bander-e-Abbas, it joined the IRGC's Navy.
"The heavy ship Shahid Roudaki, equipped with state-of-the-art Iranian equipment and weapons, is now [fully] operational, from its missile systems to its drone systems.
"From here on out, protecting our naval routes and providing operational, rescue, and battle support under special conditions will all be part of the mission of the Shahid Roudaki ocean crosser."
