IRGC Commander-in-Chief General Hossein Salami Presents New Technology, Claims It Uses Magnetic Fields, “Bipolar Virus,” to Detect COVID-19 from 100 Meters Away within Five Seconds

On April 15, 2020, IRINN TV (Iran) aired a report about a new technology for the detection of COVID-19 that Iran claims to have developed. IRGC Commander-in-Chief General Hossein Salami presented a device with an antenna and said that the technology creates a magnetic field and, by means of a "bipolar virus" that is "installed" in the machine, can detect any area that is infected by coronavirus from as far as 100 meters away within five seconds. He claimed that this technology can also be used to diagnose patients and that it has an accuracy rate of 80%. In May 2017, the Iranian news agency, IRNA, aired a report about an identical-looking device that was purported to be able to detect between 1 liter and 1000 liters of fuel, also using magnetic fields and "bi-polar" technology. The device was meant to help Iranian authorities to combat fuel smuggling. For more about coronavirus-related technologies that Iran claims to have developed, see MEMRI TV Clip No. 7918.

General Hossein Salami: "What you see here today is a new and exclusive scientific and technological phenomenon, which was developed following the coronavirus outbreak in the country by some of our devoted basiji scientists. The basic principle is as follows: By creating a magnetic field - or, in other words, by installing a bipolar virus into this device - any infected point in the vicinity, as far as 100 meters away... The antenna of this device is facing that point, and it can detect the infected point within five seconds."

Interviewer: "General, we don't have much time. Is it possible to test it live on air, so that the people of our country will see how the mechanism works?"

Salami: "Yes, I will ask them to test this device so that the people can see. The advantage of this device is that you do not need to draw blood. Everything is done from far away and it operates smartly. It provides a possibility to conduct mass screenings. It completely detects infected surfaces and points, as well as people infected with the virus. It also allows for smart disinfection, so that places that are not infected will not be disinfected for nothing. This is a wonderous scientific phenomenon. Tests in different hospitals have shown that we have 80% accuracy. Inshallah, we will have more developments, and this can be a very good foundation for the detection of any virus, corona or other."
