IRGC commander-in-chief General Hossein Salami said in a video that aired on Channel 2 (Iran) on March 26, 2020 that America's claims that it is willing to help Iran deal with the COVID-19 pandemic is nothing but demagoguery and a lie, that America is busy trying to deal with its own outbreak, and that the American infrastructure cannot protect the American people from the virus. He added: "If the American people need help, we can help them, but we do not need their assistance."

General Hossein Salami: "The claim by the Americans that they would help the Iranians is nothing but demagoguery and a lie. The Americans themselves are busy dealing with the virus outbreak, and all their capabilities, facilities, and infrastructure cannot protect the American public from this phenomenon. As far as I am concerned, if the American people need help, we can help them, but we do not need their assistance."
