General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, said in an interview with Iranian filmmaker Nader Talebzadeh that was uploaded to the Internet on September 12, 2019 that Iran is constantly monitoring American naval vessels within a range of 2,000 kilometers from Iran, and he said that it would only “take one spark” for Iran to attack these vessels. He said that the U.S. must leave the region and that Iran can defend itself and its airspace to an unprecedented degree. General Hajizadeh also said that Iran is acting in accordance with Islamic principles by helping Muslims around the world and in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, and he said that Iran will stand alongside the resistance front at all costs. He emphasized that Iran and the resistance are an interrelated coalition. The interview was uploaded to a YouTube channel called Nader’s Show. The show is hosted by Talebzadeh, who is designated by the U.S. Treasury Department as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist for his involvement in the New Horizon Institute. The video was published with English-language subtitles, which were transcribed by MEMRI for viewing comfort.

Following are excerpts:

General Amir Ali Hajizadeh: In addition to the U.S. bases in various regions like Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait, the Emirates, and Qatar, we have targeted all naval vessels up to a distance of 2,000 kilometers, and we constantly monitoring them. They think that they are out of our firing range if they go out to a distance of 400 kilometers. Wherever they are, it only takes one spark for us to hit their vessels, their airbases, and their troops. They are wasting their money. America has to pick up and leave this region. The Iran of today is not the Iran of 30 years ago. Iran is powerful. There was a time when an aircraft could fly to the center of the country, like the Tabs incident. We didn’t have equipment, we didn’t have radar, we didn’t have air defense systems, and we didn’t have missile systems. It is very different today. They shot down our Airbus plane with 290 people on board, and we couldn’t respond. But today is very different. Today, we are powerful, and our response will be very powerful and crushing.

Nader Talebzadeh: My last question is about Iran’s impact on defense in the region and far-away countries.

General Amir Ali Hajizadeh: If they are being attacked in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen by enemies that are being supported by America and European countries, it is our duty to support them to the best of our ability and to stand with the resistance. We will definitely help Palestine, Lebanon, and Yemen. Yes, blockades and limitations exist, but we will support them and stand with the resistance front at all costs. We will defend the oppressed, and they have now become a coalition. It’s not like n the past, when they were alone. We used to be alone, and some of these smaller groups used to be alone, but today we are all a coalition standing next to each other. The U.S. can no longer do something here and see no consequences in Lebanon. We are definitely interrelated, and we are standing next to each other. The era of hit-and-run is over. We will not allow them to oppress us. We have stood and we continue to stand united against America.
