Jihad Jara, secretary of Fatah’s Ireland Branch, slammed Qatar and its National Conference for Palestine initiative to integrate Hamas into the PLO during a February 17, 2025, appearance on Awda TV (Palestinian Authority). He referred to Qatar as a "rogue state" that is concocting conspiracies against the PLO and claimed it has torn Arab and Islamic society apart. Jara asserted that Qatar had destroyed Gaza with its deceitful Al-Jazeera TV, which he said conspired against the Palestinian cause. He added, "They cannot be forgiven."
Jara was a senior leader with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades during the second Intifada. According to Israeli security, he was involved in terrorist attacks against Israeli targets including suicide bombings. In 2002, he was among dozens of terrorists who fled to the Bethlehem Church of the Nativity during Operation Defensive Shield. After a 39-day siege of the church, the terrorists were exiled to Gaza and Europe.

Jihad Jara: "We are proud of the people [who boycotted the Palestinian National Conference in Doha]. We are proud of their patriotism, which prevented them from being drawn to Doha, in the rogue state [of Qatar], in order to concoct conspiracies against the PLO.
"[Qatar] tore apart Arab and Islamic society. That country destroyed Gaza with deceitful slogans and its lying Al-Jazeera TV, which conspired against the Palestinian cause, at the behest of Qatar. They have destroyed the Palestinian people and took part in the killing of our Palestinian people. They cannot be forgiven."
