Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: Within Five Years, All Vehicles in Iran Will Run on Natural Gas; We Will Continue to Build Missiles

Following are excerpts from an interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which aired on the Iranian news channel (IRINN) on October 4, 2006

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: The government has recently submitted a proposal for a bill, which has passed in the parliament. According to the bill, within five years, all vehicles in Iran will run on natural gas, and pumps for natural gas will be installed throughout the country. Two types of equipment are needed to make vehicles run on natural gas: One is the equipment installed in the engine, and the other is the gas cylinder, which is installed in the trunk of the car, in order to inject the gas. Thus, vehicles will run on natural gas, there will be no more pollution, and gasoline consumption will drop. When we visit countries which claim to support the peoples.... There is a small pressing tool that presses the gas cylinder, but they do not give it to us. They say they are afraid that Iran might use this pressing tool to build missiles. We say to them: Don't you worry. Thanks to the endeavors of the Iranian youth, the Iranian people, even without this tool, has built and will continue to build missiles. The people... The youth, who are capable of building missiles, despite your sanctions and your restrictions, will build this pressing tool on their own, Allah willing, and will make all vehicles run on natural gas.
