Iranian TV Host Amir-Hossein Tahmasebi: If The U.S. Violates The JCPOA Again, We Will Move Ahead Towards A Nuclear Breakthrough And Begin Enriching Uranium To 90%

Iranian TV host Amir-Hossein Tahmasebi said in an August 21, 2022 show on Channel 3 (Iran) that Iran is only a few months away from being able to enrich uranium to 90%. He also warned that if the U.S. "violates" the JCPOA again, then Iran will add advanced centrifuges to its enrichment cycle and make the "breakthrough" of enriching to 90%.

Amir-Hossein Tahmasebi: "The Americans want to render the talks and agreements meaningless. It is not just the signatures of U.S. State Secretaries Kerry and Blinken... Even the signatures of all 330 million Americans would not suffice as a guarantee for us. If our negotiating team becomes distracted for a single moment, the Americans will definitely land their blow, and we will have to relive the events of a few years ago, which we were critical of. So this is very important: None of their signature can serve as a guarantee.

"The Americans know full well that if under any circumstances they [decide] to not abide by [the agreement], or to violate it again, the Islamic Republic of Iran will quickly add its advanced machines and centrifuges to the [enrichment] cycle.

"We will move ahead with all the issues pertaining to our nuclear breakthrough, and [activate] this cycle and our production capabilities. What will happen afterwards is what the Americans and all of Iran's enemies fear. In the past, people would say that the Iranians were one year away from enriching [uranium] to 90%. Today, with the capacity that has been created, the time frame for that is much shorter. We are now just a few months away. [So in case of a U.S. violation,] the Iranians will implement their nuclear breakthrough."
