Iranian Middle East expert Dr. Masoud Asadollahi said in an October 2, 2020 interview on Etejah TV (Iraq) that if Israel attacks Iran, the UAE will be one of the targets of Iran's retaliation. He said that in such a case, Iran will attack ports, and oil installations in the UAE. In addition, he said that the IRGC's Quds Force is present in several countries in the region, largely at the request of these countries' governments. He added that Quds Force is also present in Palestine, and that Iran takes pride in the fact that it is there without Israel's permission.

Dr. Masoud Asadollahi: "The Iranian position is very clear, especially if the attacker is the Zionist army. So when the [UAE-Israel peace] agreement was officially announced, the official Iranian position towards the UAE was very firm – one of the victims of any Israeli attack against Iran will be the UAE, without a doubt.

"Iran will retaliate against Israel directly – we have Shahab-3 and other types of missiles – but at the same time, Iran will target all the ports, oil installations, other kinds of installations, and anything in the UAE, and it will send the UAE back sixty years, to a time when there was no trace of civilization there."

Interviewer: "The Islamic Republic is present in numerous countries in the region through the Quds Force. In your opinion, what is Iran's goal with this presence?"

Asadollahi: "The presence of the Quds Force in some – not many- Arab countries is the result of legitimate requests of the legitimate governments of those countries. We are present in Syria at the request of the legitimate government of Syria. We are present in other countries as well. There is only one Arab country where the Quds Force is present [without the government's request], and that is Palestine, because it is occupied. We do not ask the Zionists' permission to be there. We are proud of this. We support the Palestinian people and the Palestinian resistance, in a country that is under Zionist occupation. But in all other countries where the Quds Force is present, its presence is legal."
