On January 12, 2025, Channel 2 (Iran) aired a report on a "comprehensive" air defense drill at the Fordow nuclear facility, in which the Iranian military unveiled its new laser air-defense system. According to reports, a Chinese laser air defense system has been spotted in Iran. The drill included UAV attacks on the air-defense systems and confronting a fighter jet.
Narrator: "Here we have one of the air-defense perimeters of the Fordow nuclear center, and it provides powerful protection for this center, using various air-defense systems. Even the defense systems have protection. This is a simulation of a widespread attack by UAVs."
Reporter: "The UAV attacks attempting to shut down the missile defense systems at the Fordow nuclear site are continuing nonstop. Here, air-defense systems for low-altitude [threats] confront attack UAVs."
Narrator: "The UAV attacks have been repelled. In this operation, the army used other systems, in addition to the Tondar and Majid short-range missile systems."
Reporter: "For the first time, the army unveils the Seraj laser-air defense system as part of this comprehensive air-defense drill, here, at the air-defense perimeters of the Fordow nuclear site."
Narrator: "Obviously, the destruction range of the Seraj laser system has not been made public yet. With these systems and the teams that man them in defense perimeters, a powerful drill of the Fordow nuclear site air-defense is being held. It simulates an attack by a fighter jet. In this case, the Talash system confronts the jet at a distance of 100 km."
Reporter: "This is the moment of the confrontation. At a 70-km distance in high altitude, and despite difficult electronic warfare conditions, the Khordad 15 system destroys this target also. At the same time, unplanned targets are being confronted, in order to test the immediate response of the defense systems."
