Iranian ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi said that Iran did not approve of military intervention in Iraq by Turkey or by any other country. He made these remarks in an interview with Rudaw TV (Iraqi Kurdistan) that aired on February 27, 2021. Masjedi said that Turkey must withdraw to the international borders, and that only Iraqis should be responsible for maintaining security in Iraq.

Iraj Masjedi: "We reject military intervention in Iraq. The Turkish forces must not threaten in any way or occupy Iraqi territory. The Iraqi forces should maintain security on their own, and the forces of the Kurdistan Region should do so in their own areas. This way there will be security in the region. We do not approve of military intervention in Iraq by Turkey or by any other country. We do not approve of such military advancement or presence in Iraq. I have already said that in a previous answer. We believe that the Turks must withdraw to the international border and deploy there, and the security of Iraq must be maintained by the Iraqis themselves."
