Australian Islamic Scholar Ismail Al-Wahwah: It Is Highly Likely That The Beirut Port Blast Was An Israeli Attack On Hizbullah

Ismail Al-Wahwah, a senior member of Hizb-ut-Tahrir Australia, said in an August 5, 2020 podcast that was posted on Hizb-ut-Tahrir Australia’s Facebook page that there is a strong possibility that the recent Beirut port blast was an Israeli attack on Hizbullah ammonium nitrate storage facilities. He said that it is possible this was done as a warning to Palestinian "resistance" factions to surrender and comply with the Deal of the Century. Al-Wahwah also said that Hizbullah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah has previously threatened to strike Israeli ammonium storage facilities in Haifa, and Al-Wahwah suggested that Israel used this idea against Hizubllah.

Ismail Al-Wahwah: "There was a clash between the Jewish state and Hizbullah and Iran. There have been bombs inside Iran. [During] the last few weeks, every day there was a bomb and big issues. And no one knows what is going on inside Iran. In Iraq, what's going on... In Syria... Israel attacks everywhere in Syria every day. So it looks like the big players have a new strategy for the area. A new strategy for the area needs an action like that.

[...]

"When America allowed a party like Hizbullah to grow up from zero, to be like what it is today... We have to remember this – you [Hizbullah] were born from zero, very weak. And you started to grow, everyone saw that, everyone watched. You grew up on the border with the Jewish state. You claim you want to get rid of the Jewish state. They allow you to grow [with] weapons and rockets, and everyone is watching. Compare this with America saying that Taliban was a terrorist [organization], or Al-Qaeda... And they killed everyone in the mountains of Yemen, the mountains of Afghanistan. They killed everyone. They want to give zero tolerance.

[...]

"For sure, they let you grow up for their own reason, and they [the Americans] know that they can close the tap at any time. Look what has happened today.

[...]

"The same material has been used by the Al-Assad regime to destroy Syria. The question is are the people of Lebanon the victims of the same weapon...

[...]

"How have you destroyed the whole of Syria?"

Interviewer: "When we think of the barrel bombs..."

Al-Wahwah: "It's the same barrel bombs... It's the same material."

[...]

Interviewer: "Can we take the possibility that this was not an accident, that this is not an example of government incompetence and corruption, that this is not a by-product of the Syrian conflict, and that in fact [it is] an act of war against Lebanon from the Jewish entity?"

Al-Wahwah: "Look, we will not exclude this possibility and it is a strong one.

[...]

"They think: 'Let us send a final message before the whole Deal of the Century. You are surrounded, so give up, you have no chance. The [organization] that has stated for years and years [that it is] the resistance, look at how we deal with them. No one else should think about it. You all have to give up. Send a message to Palestine, Gaza, and everywhere – look what your end [looks like].' That could be [the case]. Netanyahu himself is stuck somewhere, in his political life. [To those who say] it can't happen, yes, it can happen. And I remember... Maybe... It has been published now in the media... Hassan Nasrallah, himself, in one of his speeches, threatened the Jewish state with the same scenario."

Interviewer: "The same scenario played out."

Al-Wahwah: "100%. He said: 'We will send rockets, those rockets will hit the ammonium containers in Haifa, and the rockets [striking] the ammonium will lead [to an explosion] like atomic bombs.' That is what happened. Did the Israelis take that concept and say: 'Okay, you want to do this [to us], so we will do this to you'?"
