In a Friday, March 4, 2022 sermon that aired on Al-Eman TV (Houthis – Yemen), the Houthi Mufti of Yemen Shams Al-Din Sharaf Al-Din asked Allah to make the violence in Ukraine "fierce." He also said that the West does not confront Russia directly because Russia is powerful, and because those who are powerful are "taken seriously." He concluded that the Yemenis should learn a lesson from this and should develop military power including air defenses, UAVs, and ballistic missiles. For more information about Shams Al-Din Sharaf Al-Din, see MEMRI TV clip no 7329.

Shams Al-Din Sharaf Al-Din: "Brothers, we can learn a number of lessons, from what is happening now in Ukraine. Regardless of what is happening... We ask Allah to make the violence between them fierce. Generally speaking, these people are Christians, Jews, and infidels, but we must learn the lesson from this.

"How come America and the Western countries are unable to enter a direct confrontation with Russia, even though they know that Russia is their enemy?

"The reason is that Russia is powerful. When you are powerful, you are taken seriously. This compels us to develop our military power. Air defenses, UAVs, ballistic missiles... We must not make light of this matter. We must have weapons.

"I am not saying this because of politics, or in order to militarize mosques. No! This is what Allah says."
