In an August 13, 2022 video posted on Hizb Britain on YouTube, in response to the stabbing of Salman Rushdie, Mazhar Khan of the executive committee of Hizbu ut-Tahrir Britain said: "Insulting the Prophet is something the Muslims will never tolerate [...] Muslims around the world will always defend the honor of the Prophet." He said that the West claims that Islam is the "enemy of the so-called freedom of speech," however it is the West that is trying to force its values and opinions on the rest of the world.

Khan said that in British classrooms it is forbidden to say that homosexuality is a sin, and in France it is forbidden to doubt the Holocaust. He added that "Muslims are criminalized for their opinions." Khan said that "this is not about freedom of speech, rather it is about demonizing Islam, the bombing of freedom into Muslims has failed – the propaganda to deform Islam has too failed."

On August 12, 2022, Indian-British author Salman Rushdie was seriously wounded after he was stabbed during a lecture. In 1989, Iranian Supreme Leader at the time Ayatollah Ruhollah Rouhani issued a fatwa that he be killed, asserting that his book The Verses of Satan is blasphemous.

Mazhar Khan: "Yesterday Salman Rushdie, the author of a notorious book, was stabbed on stage and not surprisingly, a whole debate has ensued — the same debate which is run over and over again with regards to the Muslims. We are hearing the same argument again, that Islam is somehow opposed to debate and discussion, Islam is the enemy of the so-called freedom of speech.

"Now, insulting the Prophet is never something that the Muslim will ever tolerate, it is non-negotiable. So, this is something that Muslims around the world will always defend, the honor of the Prophet, his family, and his companions.

[...]

"With many other people who are fair-minded around the world, they see the aggressive nature of the West in trying to force its values and its opinions on the rest of the world. They force their values on the rest of the world, so they adopt the free market without question, and free sex without question.

[...]

"No teacher is allowed to even say that homosexuality is a sin in class, there is no debate or discussion here – zero freedom in Britain for teachers to do this. Public condemnation of the brutal and merciless killing of men, women, and children by the Zionist occupiers of Palestine is not tolerated.

[...]

"In France, its illegal to doubt the Holocaust – zero freedom to say this.

[...]

"Muslims are criminalized for their opinions – no freedom of expression for them. Muslims are banned and deplatformed from speaking at universities and other public venues that challenge the Western narrative of various issues – no freedom of expression for them. Muslims are denied venues for holding public talks to debate and discuss public issues – no freedom of expression for them.

"So, this is not about freedom of speech, rather it is about demonizing Islam. The bombing of freedom into Muslims has failed, the propaganda to deform Islam, too, has failed."
