Hamas Military Wing Releases Instructional Video on How to Support Resistance Securely Using Bitcoin

On March 24, 2019, the 'Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Brigades, Hamas' military wing, published a video in Arabic with English subtitles containing instructions on how to give untraceable donations to Hamas using Bitcoin. Viewers are given a link to an Al-Qassam Brigades website that will give them a QR code and a Bitcoin wallet address. The narrator explains that the website gives a unique wallet address to each visitor and urges donors to not share the addresses they are given. Viewers are told they can donate in one of three ways. The first way is to ask any money exchange office to deposit money in the Al-Qassam wallet address, without disclosing to whom the address belongs. The second donation method is to transfer from an existing Bitcoin wallet directly to the Al-Qassam wallet, and viewers who want to create a new wallet are told to do so using a public network through a trusted site so that the wallet would not be linked to their IP address. The third method is to create an account on a trading platform, deposit the donation sum using a credit card, and transfer the money to the Al-Qassam wallet using the trading platform. The narrator explained that the same wallet address can be used for additional donations, or that a new Al-Qassam wallet address can be acquired 24 hours after the previous one has been acquired. Viewers who live in countries that block the Al-Qassam website are instructed to use any effective method to change their IP address to enable them to donate. The narrator concludes: "No matter how little [your donation] is, [it] reflects your stand [with the] Palestinian people." The video was published on the Al-Qassam Brigade's Telegram channel, as well as on Hamas-affiliated Facebook pages, and was released alongside additional materials that promoted Bitcoin donations.

Narrator: How to support the Palestinian resistance via Bitcoin? Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that cannot be traced. For your privacy and a safe donation process, take the following steps. Visit the donation link. You will see a QR code and the wallet address where to send your donation. Copy the wallet address or scan the QR code with your mobile phone. The Qassam website gives out a unique address for each visitor. Be sure not to share it with others. You can send your donation in one of the following methods. Method 1: Ask any money exchange office to deposit the amount in the wallet address you got from the Qassam website, without mentioning to whom the address belongs. Method 2: If you have a secure wallet, transfer the money directly to the Qassam wallet. How to create a secure Bitcoin wallet? In this step, use a public device so that the wallet is not linked to your IP address. Create your own wallet through one of the trusted sites. Method 3: Create a new account on one of the trading platforms. Deposit the donation amount into your platform account using your credit card. Transfer it from your platform account to your secure wallet. Then, from your safe wallet to the Qassam wallet. To donate again, you can transfer to the same wallet address that you used before, or you can get a new address from the Qassam website for more security, 24 hours after you get the first address. If the Qassam website is blocked in your country, use any of the effective methods to change your IP. Our generous donor, your generous donation – no matter how little it is – reflects your stand by the Palestinian people.
