Osama Hamdan of the Hamas Political Bureau stated at the Al-Jazeera Forum in Doha, Qatar, on February 15, 2025, that there is now an opportunity to rebuild and expand the "resistance camp." He noted that, during the war, the neighbors of the Arab world played a key role, including Iran, Turkey, and South Africa. Hamdan also stated that it is time for Arabs to recognize the opportunity to break free from Western hegemony. He emphasized that this region is capable of "slapping" Israel whenever it wants, and Hamas proved this on October 7.
Osama Hamdan: "We will be the ones to decide how we manage our domestic affairs. Therefore, whoever wants to take Israel's place will be treated just like Israel. I say this clearly. Anyone who wants to work on behalf of Israel will bear the consequences of being Israel's proxy. This is why the issues of the resistance weapons, the resistance leaders, and our relations with [the countries] supporting the resistance are not up for debate. It is not that we will stick to a hardline in the talks. It's not even up for debate. We will not agree to anyone talking to us about this. I say this loud and clear.

"The resistance camp will rebuild itself and will continue on its path, and I am telling you that we have an opportunity to expand this camp. These are not illusions. I am serious. We have an opportunity to expand this camp. Even the change that took place in Syria will ultimately align with the resistance, because the Golan is occupied, [Syrian] land is occupied, and an additional 400 kilometers of Syrian land were occupied. The Israelis will not withdraw from this land without resistance. Therefore, [Syria] must be in this axis. Therefore, I say that the resistance is the option of this region.

"As Arabs, we are facing a historic opportunity. In this war, we found out that some of our neighbors can play a key role, and we can rely on them and benefit from them: Iran, Turkey, and [South] Africa. South Africa has always been supportive of our causes, but since Camp David, we turned sideways. During this war, it made a case against Israel in the ICJ. The time has come for the Arabs to agree among themselves that they have an opportunity to be release from [Western] hegemony.
"It requires a little bit of courage, some preparations, and a dialogue with our neighbors, in order to build new circumstances for a region that wants to be sovereign, independent, and free to make its own decisions. The region's basic tool is its ability to slap Israel whenever it wants, and do this at a high level, and we proved this on October 7. Thank you."
