Gaza-Born Palestinian Politician Tahani Abu Daqqa On The Israel-Hamas War: This Is The First Time My Family Has Actually Been Displaced, Turned Into Refugees – How Is This Victory? The Resistance Axis Has Collapsed, Bodies Are Being Eaten By Dogs In The Streets

Gaza-born Palestinian politician Tahani Abu Daqqa, who served as the Palestinian Authority's Minister of Youth & Sports in 2007-2009, said in a January 25, 2025 show on Al-Arabiya Network (Saudi Arabia) that the Gaza war which broke out after the October 7, 2023 Hamas-led invasion and massacres in southern Israel is the first war against Israel in which her family has actually been displaced and turned into refugees. She said that this is the first time her house, her land, and her various development projects have been under the control of Israeli occupation, asking: "In what way is this victory?"

She said that Hamas has shown its strength and has demonstrated that Israel is unable to easily rescue its hostages, but that this has ultimately led to slaughter. She said that the Gazans are being displaced, killed, and thrown in the streets, with their bodies being eaten by dogs. She added that moreover, the Iran-backed resistance axis consisting of Hizbullah, Bashar Al-Assad's Syria, and Hamas has collapsed entirely.

Tahani Abu Daqqa: "In [the wars] of 1948, 1956, and 1967, my family and I were not expelled from our land and our home, and were not turned into refugees. In this war, however, I was driven out of my home, I became a refugee in Egypt. My house is now under occupation, because it is in the buffer zone. My land, on which I had some projects that were destroyed, is also under the control of the occupation.

"So I would like to ask: In what way is this a victory? Perhaps it can be said that the Hamas movement has shown its strength, has proven that Israel could not easily reach the hostages to free them, but ultimately, it was us who were slaughtered. We have become displaced, we have died, we have been humiliated, women have been thrown in the streets, bodies have been eaten by dogs... All of this should also be taken into consideration.

[...]

"The entire Resistance Axis has collapsed. The Resistance Axis that we used to threaten and intimidate Israel has collapsed. The power of Hizbullah, of Syria, and of Hamas, whose weapons frightened the occupation... It is all gone. As far as I can see, we have no Resistance movement left."
