Following are excerpts from an interview with former Egyptian foreign minister Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit, which aired on Al-Hayat TV (via the Internet) on January 16, 2013.

Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit: President [Mubarak] had great reservations about the story of 9/11. He said: “No way did they do it.” He said this time and again. He wasn’t ashamed to say this.

Interviewer: But he never said so publicly.

Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit: Of course not…

Interviewer: If he had, [the Americans] would have raised the issue of Ayman Nour’s arrest.

Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit: He had doubts. Let’s say that he was a skeptic. He would say: “I am a pilot, and these airliners are very heavy planes.” He said that for someone who had taken three hours of pilot lessons to fly a plane into a building 100-150 meters wide at a speed of 700 kph – he would need a laser guiding device.

Interviewer: Did he think this was a U.S. conspiracy?

Ahmad Abu Al-Gheit: He never revealed this, but he had doubts.
