Fatah spokesman in Europe and Revolutionary Council member Dr. Jamal Nazzal discussed a recent Fatah communiqué denouncing Hamas in a January 11, 2025 appearance on Palestine TV. He stated that the word "Hamas" carried much more prestige prior to October 7. Nazzal noted that with its political, military, and financial leadership now focused outside Palestine, Hamas is no longer relevant. He added that Hamas has brought a "new Nakba" upon the Palestinians due to its "reckless” actions since October 7.
Interviewer: "We would like to discuss the communique issued by Fatah warning that [Fatah] will not allow Hamas to put Palestinian interests and capabilities at risk for Iran's sake, that [Hamas] caused the destruction of the Gaza Strip, and that it will not be allowed to repeat its Gaza reckless adventures in the West Bank."

Jamal Nazzal: "This communique was issued by Fatah in order to remind people of who [Hamas] are, and of their size. The word 'Hamas' carried a lot more prestige a year and a half ago than what it does today. This was based on the fact that at the time, its political presence in Palestine – embodied by its political bureau – was in Palestine. Its military presence, its focus, and its financial clout were all in Palestine. Today, Hamas's political clout is outside Palestine. 95% of its political bureau members are outside Palestine. The center of its military activity is no longer in Palestine. It has lost Lebanon, Syria, and Iran. [Hamas] is no longer focused on Palestine, so who cares about what it does? We do not really care too much about what Hamas says. This is also because of that organization's poor record when it comes to actually benefitting the Palestinians. Worse yet, they brought a new Nakba upon the Palestinians, ever since October 7."
