The following are excerpts from an interview with Fatah Central Committee member Tawfiq Al-Tirawi, which aired on Al-Mayadeen TV on January 23, 2014:
Tawfiq Al-Tirawi: There is no [Israeli-Palestinian] framework agreement. It is a lie. Let me tell you, if there was...
TV host: But Kerry says there will be a framework agreement in April.
Tawfiq Al-Tirawi: Fine, let him say so. Even if Kerry says that there is a framework agreement, the Palestinians will reject it.

There are no circumstances under which a Palestinian state will be established in the West Bank and Gaza in the next 20 years. Absolutely not.
TV host: It's not possible.
Tawfiq Al-Tirawi: Right, it's not possible. Anybody who believes that there is a possibility that a Palestinian state will be established in the next 20 years is mistaken. The negotiations will get us nowhere. We [in Fatah] need to return to the circle of action. All the Palestinian organizations should do this [jointly].
TV host: What you are saying is new and important.
Tawfiq Al-Tirawi: Let me tell you, when we enter the cycle of action, many things will change.
TV host: By the cycle of action, you mean...
Tawfiq Al-Tirawi: Resistance, in all its forms. But what is resistance, brother? Remaining steadfast constitutes resistance. Negotiations are a kind of resistance, but it needs to be reinforced by what is happening on the ground, right?
TV host: You are referring to weapons...
Tawfiq Al-Tirawi: Weapons and popular resistance. There are hundreds of ways to conduct resistance.
