Dr. Huda Darwish, head of the Center for Israeli Studies at Zagazig University, said that "since ancient times, Jewish power has been anchored in their financial capabilities, their materialistic ideology, their hoarding of wealth, and the issue of bribery," and that "what is happening in Syria is the exact implementation of the Israeli expansionist scheme." Darwish was speaking on Egypt's Channel 2 on February 3.
Dr. Huda Darwish: "Since ancient times, Jewish power has been anchored in their financial capabilities, their materialistic ideology, their hoarding of wealth, the issue of bribery..."
Interviewer: "As well as the economy, the banks, and their control of the junctures of..."
Dr. Huda Darwish: "Exactly. They control natural resources, they control the water, they control... They focus their ideology on control. This is what sometimes leads Palestinians to emigrate from there.
"What is happening in Syria is the exact implementation of the Israeli expansionist scheme, the plan for 'Greater Israel' from the Nile to the Euphrates. To tell you the truth, we didn't believe this at first. We used to say: 'Who could possibly beat us?' 'Who could possibly cause these countries to disintegrate?'"
Interviewer: "But what happened..."
Dr. Huda Darwish: "The superpowers... But then we realized that one country after the other - Yemen, Libya, Iraq, Syria...
Interviewer: "There was an attempt to do this in Egypt as well, but our Lord protected it, through its army and its people."
Dr. Huda Darwish: "True. This is obviously the implementation of the Israeli scheme. This used to be deemed a far-fetched Zionist ambition. They had never believed that the (Arab) countries would collapse so quickly, due to sectarian divisions and military alliances."
