Egyptian Author Muhammad Al-Mansi Qandil: The Israel Germ, Planted in the Arab Body in 1948, Is Responsible for the "Deformed" Arab Regimes

Speaking on Mayadeen TV on June 21, Egyptian author Muhammad Al-Mansi Qandil said that "Israel is a germ that was planted in the Arab body in 1948" and that "ever since, the Arab body has been plagued with the Israel disease." That is why, he said, "all the [Arab] regimes that were established came out deformed, we produced deformed development projects, and we entered wars that were beyond our capabilities."

Qandil: "Whenever a bomb is dropped on an Arab home - whether in the wars with Israel or the Arab-Arab wars - we know that the West is behind it. The West produced that bomb, sold it, and brought it to this region. To this very day, the only thing we get from the West is destruction. All the civilizations in the world fought a single war against the West, got their independence, and began to progress, except for us. Due to our geographic proximity with the West, the wars never end. The religious conflict, the sectarian conflict, and all that... We are in an ongoing conflict with the West."

Host: "And the planting of Israel in the heart of the Islamic nation..."

Qandil: "If we were to give a medical diagnosis, we could say that Israel is a germ that was planted in the Arab body in 1948. Ever since, the Arab body has been plagued with the Israel disease. Therefore, all the (Arab) regimes that were established came out deformed. We established national regimes. We produced deformed development projects. We entered wars that were beyond our capabilities. We have been living with a sick Arab body since 1948..."

Host: "Unfortunately."

Qandil: "We have been unable to get rid of the germ to this very day."
