Following is an excerpt from a TV program featuring Egyptian-American writer Magdi Khalil, which aired on Al-Alam TV on November 26, 2012.
Magdi Khalil: What President Morsi did is exactly what Hitler did in 1934. Exactly the same. He accumulated all [powers], under the pretext that...
Hitler launched ethnic racism, and this man [Morsi] says that when the Prophet Muhammad went to Mecca, he did not fear... whatever... [Morsi] considered the Egyptians to be infidels, and only him and his supporters to be in the right. This is revolutionary, racist, populist, religious rhetoric.
He has accumulated powers the likes of which have never been accumulated in the worst dictatorships in the Middle East. This has never happened before in Egypt or elsewhere in the Middle East. Only twice were such powers given to one man – to Hitler and to Mussolini. Tell me one difference between Hitler and Mohamed Morsi.
