Chinese Academic Victor Gao: Blinken's Visit To Asia Is To Prepare Assets For A Showdown With China; The Biden Admin Is Agitating For Cold War

Chinese academic Victor Gao, who is a professor at China's Soochow University and the Vice-President of the Center for China and Globalization, said in a video that was posted to the Global Times YouTube channel on July 30, 2024 that U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken's recent visit to Asia is to line up assets for an ultimate "showdown" and war with China. He said that China wants peace, but that Blinken's actions are not in line with the regional trends and that the Biden Administration is agitating for a cold war. He elaborated that Blinken and U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin are attempting to generate strategic momentum that will force the next President of the United States to continue down their path of antagonism against China, and he said that Biden and Blinken will be remembered for their Cold War mentalities.

Victor Gao: "It is noteworthy that Secretary of State of the United States Mr. Blinken is on a long and extensive visit to six countries in Asia. I personally believe his visit to all six countries and all the meetings holding with his counterparts, as well as the so called '2 +2' meetings, in Japan, in the Philippines, etc., are all designed to further increase the pressure against China to line up assets in preparation for a showdown with China eventually.

"We want to have peace and development and whatever Mr. Blinken is doing in this part of the world, talking about war preparedness, talking about potential for war, for example, are not in line with the megatrends in our part of the world.

"I think the Biden Administration has proven without any doubt to be a government agitating for the Cold War and Mr. Blinken is very much part of that strategy because it's apparent Mr. Blinken and Mr. Austin want to create a situation which either President Trump or President Harris, has to be decided in November, will need to follow the momentum they create. You name it, we are talking about a Cold War mentality.

"I'm afraid President Biden will be judged by history as a Cold War President and Mr. Blinken will be judged as a Cold War Warrior."
