British-Palestinian journalist Abdel-Bari Atwan said in a February 5, 2022 show on NBN TV (Lebanon) that he believes that the recent assassination of ISIS leader Al-Qurayshi was staged by the U.S. in light of President Biden's drop in popularity. He also suggested that the assassinations of Osama Bin Laden and Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi were staged, since the U.S. never showed their bodies. He contrasted this with Saddam Hussein and his sons, Uday, and Qusay, whose bodies were shown to the public after their deaths.
Abdel-Bari Antwan: "The United States, or rather the Biden Administration, is at its weakest. Its popularity among the Americans is dropping. They came out and said that they assassinated the successor of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, Al-Hashimi Al-Qurayshi. In my opinion, we still do not know what exactly transpired.
"In three cases, the Americans carried assassinations, but to this moment, we have no seen the bodies.
"They assassinated Osama Bin Laden. They killed him and said that they buried him at sea. Where is his body?
"Similarly, they assassinated Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, and said that he blew himself up or that they blew him up and we have not yet seen a picture [of his body]. Now, they are coming up with a third story and saying that Abu Ibrahim Al-Hashimi Al-Qurayshi blew himself up, and that his body was torn apart.
"When you killed Saddam Hussein’s sons Uday and Qusay, you showed us their bodies. When you killed Saddam Hussein, when you hanged him, you showed us his body hanging from the rope -- we saw him before and after the hanging. How come in these cases, we do not get to see the [bodies]?
"There is a secret here. I think that they have staged this, and we do not know all the details. They are selling this to us through media and on social media, we always swallow it hook, line, and sinker. I believe that this is all a failed show at par excellence."
