Ayman Aishat, Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Director of Mosque engagement, solicited donations for the organizations during his January 31, 2025 Friday sermon at the Islamic Center of Passaic County located in Paterson, New Jersey. He asked for donations of $50,000, $25,000, and $10,000. Aishat said that during his first administration, President Trump, to whom he referred to as the "Orange Thing" threatened to ban Muslims, but now CAIR is better prepared. He remarked that CAIR has filed a lawsuit against Texas Governor Greg Abbot, whom he described as "more Zionist than Netanyahu," for "suppressing" Muslim students' voices at University of Texas. Aishat emphasized that CAIR's work is a religious obligation, and warned that the new administration is attempting to knock down non-profits and mosques by threatening their tax exemption status.
Ayman Aishat: "Eight years ago, the Orange Thing threated to ban Muslims, and we stood up firmly against him. We are much more prepared now than before, although the challenges are big, although too many executive orders that are targeting Muslims and minorities already took place.

"We know how many 'state mayors' throw themselves into the laps of Zionists, including one of the largest states in America – Texas. The governor over there is more Zionist than Netanyahu himself, every time making new legislation to go against even the BDS.

"Recently, Greg Abbott tried to suppress the young Muslim American students in the University of Texas. He tried to make new legislation to suppress their voices, and we took [legal measures] against him as well, and we sued him again. He hates CAIR attorneys big time.

"Nobody is too big to stand against us, in terms of courts, agencies, corporations, and we are at it together.

"The work of CAIR becomes an obligation. The work of CAIR becomes for your donation tax exempt. The work of CAIR becomes ethically, and religiously mandatory, that becomes tax eligible, and of course, it is tax exempt... By the way, talking about tax exempt [status], the new administration is trying to work on knocking down too many non-profit organizations and mosques – especially the eyes are on the Muslims, as you probably can tell.
