Interviewed by the South African Broadcasting Corporation on February 9, 2015, Palestinian politician and former PFLP plane hijacker Leila Khaled described the 2014 war in Gaza as "a holocaust" and said that there is "only one choice for us - resistance, by all means, including armed struggle. This is the only way that we can liberate our land." Khaled was on tour in South Africa as the guest of honor of the local chapter of the BDS movement.

Announcer: "Palestinian resistance icon Leila Khaled is in South Africa. In 1969, Khaled made history by becoming the first woman to hijack an airplane. She was only 25 years old at the time. She was later released in a prisoner exchange deal."

[...]

Leila Khaled: "In every excursion Israel does against our people, like what happened through the past five, six years, that Israel launched war against Gaza, and the last one, last year, was devastating, it was a holocaust.

[...]

"Don't expect except one choice for us is resistance, and resistance by all means, including armed struggle. This is the only way that we can liberate our land."

[...]

Announcer 2: "The picture of a young, determined-looking woman, with a checkered kaffiyeh scarf, clutching an AK-47, was as era-defining as that of Che Guevara, Ruth First, and other political figures from our recent past."

[...]

Leila Khaled: "The main issue for the Palestinians, and the key issue to solve this long struggle and long conflict is the return of the Palestinians there, and there together we can establish, determine our future, and then this will be solved. Other than that, this conflict will continue."
