In a heated debate on Lebanon’s Murr TV, Jad Dagher of the Sabaa political party accused former Lebanese Minister of Telecommunications Nicolas Sehnaoui of accepting money from Iran and Hizbullah. Sehnaoui, a senior member of Michel Aoun’s Free Patriotic Movement, rejected this allegation and stated that any person who accepts money from abroad is committing high treason and should be executed. The debate was aired on November 7, 2019.

Following are excerpts:

Jad Dagher: Of what we hear and know, we suspect that you have been funded by Hizbullah and Iran for a very long time.

Nicolas Sehnaoui: Why are you applauding? Why are you applauding? Do we want to build the new republic on lies, rumors, and fake news? Are you serious?

Host: Just one moment. Who told you this?

Jad Dagher: In the Free Patriotic Movement, there are people…

Nicolas Sehnaoui: I have heard that you are a CIA agent. Here, I said it on TV.

We don’t take money from abroad, because that would constitute high treason. A person who accepts money from abroad should be executed, because law states that such a person should be executed. That is my opinion.
