Kuwaiti Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim Throws Deal of the Century into the "Garbage Bin of History": It Was Born Dead And Nobody Supports It

Kuwaiti Parliament Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim spoke at the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference in Amman, Jordan, on February 8, 2020. Al-Ghanim said that "the Deal of the Century was born dead" and that it was rejected by the Palestinians as well as the Arabs and Muslims. He added that "nobody supports this monstrous formula."  Al-Ghanim held up a copy of the Deal of the Century and said that this document belongs in the garbage bin of history. He proceeded to toss it into the trash. The conference was aired on Al-Majlis TV (Kuwait).

Marzouq Al-Ghanim: "The Deal of the Century was born dead. A thousand administrations will not help it and a thousand public relations firms will not be able to promote it. Its timing is immature. It attests to a strange naivete, as well as to laughable haste. It has been rejected by the Palestinians, the owners of the cause, from the far right to the far left. It has been rejected by the Arabs – their leaders, their governments, their elites, and their peoples.

[...]

"It has been rejected by the Muslims, from Rabat to Jakarta. The Europeans are not enthusiastic. They understand how unrealistic it is and how impossible it is to accept and implement it. The paradox is that this time, there are many American and Jewish voices who have expressed their opposition to this plan. Who is left, then? Nobody. I am not exaggerating. Nobody supports this monstrous formula for a ridiculous hypothetical settlement.

[...]

"In conclusion and in a nutshell, I say on behalf of the Arab and Islamic peoples and on behalf of all the honorable and free people of the world: These are the documents of the so-called 'Deal of the Century.' Their real and appropriate place is the garbage bin of history. Assalamu alaikum. Allah's mercy and blessings upon you."
