On April 23, 2010, the Israeli HaAretz daily published a report on alleged cooperation between a salafi jihadi organization in Gaza and Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. The report was based on correspondence between the jihadist groups that was sent to the newspaper by an individual claiming to be a member of the Yemeni Houthi separatist movement. While cooperation between AQAP and salafis in Gaza is not necessarily implausible, there were a number of indications in the HaAretz report that the letters on which it is based are not authentic. For example, one of the letters cited appears to be identical to a public post on a jihadist forum from February 2010......
