Taliban Group's Pamphlet Opposes Reopening Of NATO Supply Route, Says: '[Pakistani] Army Is With The Kafirs [Infidels], Is From Among Them, And... The Mujahideen's Jihad Against It Is Justified And Even Mandatory'

Idara Pasban-e-Shariat ("The Guardians of Shari'a Institute"), an off-shoot of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has issued a pamphlet opposing the reopening of the NATO supply route through Pakistan and declaring that the militant attacks on Pakistani army personnel and government institutions are legitimate. The two-page pamphlet, which is written in Urdu on plain paper, was distributed by masked men, armed with sophisticated weapons, in the streets and mosques of Miramshah Bazaar, in North Waziristan agency, on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.

Not much is known about the leadership of Idara Pasban-e-Shariat, but it is believed by local journalists that the group owes allegiance to TTP. The pamphlet criticized the political and military leadership of Pakistan for striking a deal with the U.S., saying that the leadership had betrayed the nation by restoring the NATO supply routes. According to a report in the newspaper Dawn, the group urged the ulema (Islamic scholars) in Waziristan to use their Friday sermons to speak out against and raise awareness of this "big crime." ...
