Tehran-born Bollywood actress and internationally known model Elnaaz Norouzi posted a video on Instagram to express support for Iranian women who are protesting in Iran to oppose the Islamic veil that Iran's government requires that women wear.[1]

Elnaaz Norouzi is acclaimed for her role in a number of Bollywood movies and television films, especially for the Netflix series "Sacred Games." For more than a decade, she has also worked as an international model for brands like Dior, Lacoste, and Le Coq Sportive.[2]

At the beginning of the video, Elnaaz Norouzi is seen wearing a burqa. Text on-screen reads: "If this is your choice, it's ok!" Then she proceeds to remove the items of her clothing one by one, accompanied by the captions: "Your choice, also ok," "And so is this," "And this is ok too," "My body, my choice."

Along with the video, she posted the following message on Instagram: "Every woman, anywhere in the world, regardless of where she is from, should have the right to wear whatever she desires and when or wherever she desires to wear it. No man nor any other woman has the right to judge her or ask her to dress otherwise."[3]

"Everyone has different views and beliefs, and they have to be respected. Democracy means the power to decide... Every Woman should have the power to decide over her own body. I am not promoting nudity; I am promoting freedom of choice," she wrote in her Instagram post.[4] Her Instagram post may have been removed but is available through different media accounts on Instagram and other social media platforms.
