Shi'ite Iraqi Liberal: The CIA Officers Killed in Afghanistan Are the Real Martyrs

February 3, 2010
Afghanistan | Special Dispatch No. 2790

Shi'ite Iraqi liberal Khudayr Taher, who resides in the U.S., wrote on the reformist website elaph.com that the CIA officers killed in the December 30, 2009 attack in Afghanistan were the true mujahideen and martyrs, because they were engaged in the sacred duty of fighting terrorism.

Following are excerpts:[1]

"The souls of the CIA shahids rose to heaven after they were killed in a treasonous and cowardly act perpetrated by a terrorist. [The terrorist, on the other hand,] will go to hell, where he will face God with a mark of shame on his face, [for] he bears the sin of abetting the campaign of destruction and murder that is waged by Al-Qaeda with the aim of harming and distorting the image of Allah, god of love and just peace, who loves all human beings and not just the Muslims.

"The martyred CIA [officers] were in Afghanistan to discharge the most sacred duty – a national, moral, humane, and religious duty – of fighting evil and of courageously confronting barbaric terrorism and nipping it in the bud, before it spreads through the world like a plague. These martyrs were not defending the U.S. alone but all the [world's] nations. They were protecting people from murder and the achievements of civilization from terrorism that threatens to destroy it and obliterate it.

"A true mujahid is one who carries out Allah's will and benefits the people. The CIA officers and other members of the army and security forces deployed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the U.S. are the real mujahideen, who do the work of God and draw close to him through their important, noble and honorable activity, which is pursuing the [agents] of evil and destruction who strive to murder people and destroy lives. [The terrorists'] methods reflect [only] the will of Satan who has seduced them, prettified their crimes, and wrapped [these crimes] in a cloak of piety. [God help us] if we accept as justice the murder of people traveling on a plane, or of the people who were at the World Trade Center in New York, or of American soldiers or intelligence personnel who devote their days and nights to the sacred duty of achieving security, stability. and peace on earth.

"[We say] to all the brave soldiers and security personnel of the U.S. and of the other countries cooperating with it – who carry out the sacred duty of purging the world of the [agents] of backwardness, barbarity, savageness, and terrorism… and to all the fallen American soldiers and the peoples who cooperate with the [Americans]: We salute you and express our love for you and our pride in your bravery. May Allah shelter the CIA martyrs under his wing and grant them Paradise."
